In the spirit of Mother’s Day, I want to wish all my fellow members of the international Society of Vascular Surgery a very happy Mother’s Day.

We were all recently together at the annual ISWVS meeting in Chicago, and since I hadn’t been there in a few years, I really could feel a sense of belonging to a tribe! Although most topics were related to Vascular Surgery, a lot of topics were related to being a mother, while balancing and growing a practice, being on call, and taking care of complicated patients. The collaboration and camaraderie of the women who attended the meeting and how we supported each other was palpable.

Dr. Linda Harris passes on the baton to Dr. Palma Shaw, and with a new executive council can’t wait to see where the society goes next!
